The Problem

Too many transformation initiatives in the Philippines fail to reach their full objectives —not because the technology doesn’t work, but because it’s solving the wrong problem.

When IT and business teams don’t speak the same language, you get poor execution:

  • Expensive systems no one uses
  • Misaligned solutions that don’t drive business goals with impact
  • Missed opportunities for real transformation

This isn’t a tech issue. It’s a leadership issue. And the fix starts with aligning your business goals and IT strategy before a single peso is spent.

1. No Shared Understanding of Tech

Problem: Leaders and teams often don’t fully understand the potential—or limits—of the tech they’re investing in.

Action: Build tech awareness across leadership. Don’t leave IT in the corner. Transformation is everyone’s job.

2. Territorial Thinking

Problem: The business doesn’t ask IT for input and doesn’t involve them from the beginning. IT doesn’t understand the specific business goals and pushes back. Silos win, and results suffer.

Action: Break the turf wars. Involve IT early in business planning, at the point where the business goals are communicated—not after the spec sheet is written.

3. Poor Communication = Poor Solutions

Problem: One-sided requirements. Missed context. No feedback loops.

Action: Set up a two-way channel between business and IT. Create space to question, clarify, and challenge before any solution is built.

4. Unclear Link Between Tech and Business Goals

Problem: Even when IT builds a great solution, it’s not clear how it supports the business case.

Action: Connect the dots. Every IT initiative should map clearly to a business outcome. If it doesn’t—pause.

5. Jumping to Execution Without Proper Analysis

Problem: Teams move straight to delivery without understanding the real gaps or needs.

Action: Slow down to speed up. Use structured ideation and current-state analysis to define what problem you’re actually solving.
